Choreography [back to top]

A great choice for those who love to make up dances! Campers will participate in daily dance classes, view famous dances by major choreographers, write a review of a dance performance and create their own dances. Hip-hop, Jazz, Ballet, and many other dance styles are supported in this setting. Previous dance experience is not required, but helpful. Wearing comfortable clothes for dancing is recommended. Parents may attend a short performance at the end of the week.

Campers will also expand their imagination to explore the many ways to construct shapes and sculptures with the help of artistic advice. Jump, roll, turn, shake and leap into a week of storytelling through this fun dance class. Campers will learn some dance fundamentals with an emphasis on creative expression. Days will include a warm-up, movement games, snacks, stories, and time for the exploration of campers' own movement stories. Metal Arts [back to top]

This hands-on class will inspire the metal artists of the future by offering the opportunity to create sculptural projects by using basic metal fabrication and finishing techniques. Campers will learn the benefits and limitations of various metals while exploring the differences between surface, cutting and bending tools. Discover creative uses for scrap metal and how to prepare surfaces for aesthetic and protective finishing treatments. This program is offered in cooperation with the Minneapolis Community & Technical College Continuing Education Department. Previous welding experience is not required, and all materials and safety equipment are provided.
